Blood Drug Testing

Concerned why my dog couldnt walk?!?

Around one a.m. this morning me and my one year old yorkie woke up from a nap. I noticed he was shaking and couldnt walk. Tried but when he did, it was like he was walking for the first time. He was rly wobbly and gave up and just collapsed. Before I noticed this, I went to go put him down on the ground and he just collapsed and started to shake a little. I hurried to my parents freaking out because hes def my everything and I was so scared something was wrong. Me and my dad hurried and took him to the vet ER and they ran numerous tests on him like blood tests and overall chemistry tests ect. NOTHING! Said it would be a waste to do an exray bc he did the overall body exam and said nothing seemed wrong with his bones bc he would yelp if something was to be broken. He didnt show n e signs of being injured in that type. Just looked weak. Anyways, they couldnt give me an answer bc they never seen n e thing like this. Poor thing. They gave him an injection for discomfort thinking maybe he pinched a nerve or something. He is fine now. He was able to start walking this morning but it scared me so much to why he would start acting like this all of a sudden. Anyone please help me!! Thanks Brook for your response. I really appreciate it. I guess I forgot to put in there that they checked his heart rate and they said it was normal. Everything was normal for a very healthy dog but they dont know why this would happen to him. He was helpless and I felt helpless bc I didnt have an answer :(

  1. Well, my dog fainted and collapsed after strenuous exercise of running down at the barn after chasing the birds. Once he slowed down and came towards me, he just collapsed. Turns out he has a case of Subaortic Stenosis, a heart condition that does not allow enough blood to flow through his aortic valve as needed, causing him to faint when he overworks himself and needs that huge blood flow to keep up with his heart. Now, i'm not saying that your dog has this diagnosis, i'm saying that maybe your dog has a heart defect or maybe even a heart murmur that caused him to act funny. Having an ultra-sound on your dog, especially his heart might be a smart move but it is pricey. The vet visit, ultra-sound, and the diagnosis was $400 for me, but now Dino takes 2 pills every day and his condition is stabilized. Heart defects are common in dogs due to breeding issues.
