Blood Drug Testing

Who establishes required lab tests/cultures for patients of radiation therapy?

What organization determines and/ or recommends/ establishes approval of blood tests/ cultures for patients that require radiation therapy on/ of abdominal area ( ex: prostate, uterus, ovaries, cervix, bladder, kidneys, colon)?

1. The physician who is in the lead of the treatment team. When I was treated for breast cancer, the medical oncologist was the lead physician. He ordered all the tests I needed. I did have a radiation oncologist, but he never ordered any particular tests. This could vary among different hospitals.
2. The oncologist orders the tests and your insurance carrier pays for the tests. There is no "organization" per se on this. And, if your insurance company does not want to pay for this, you can always appeal.
