Which condition requires a pill every night and monthly blood liver tests?
Which condition (subject is female, 19) which would require a monthly blood liver test (which I believe checks for enzymes/AST) and also requires a pill every night (usually around dinner) around the same time? Apparently the pill is "okay" to take with alcohol. I know it's kind of vague and it could mean a lot of things. All help is appreciated! Thanks!

- Certain kinds of anemia would require that. She might also have hepatitis, or HIV, or any of a number of other conditions. Why not ask her? At worst she'll say that it's none of your business. Which it is not unless you are sleeping with her.
- If a person has thyroid problems, this can affect the liver. However, it is usually taken in the morning, one half hour to one hour before meals...it is levathyroxine. If a person has anemia and it is the iron deficiency kind, then iron pills can be taken with meals. This can be around supper time. If a person has high cholesterol levels, they may be placed on statin drugs. These can be taken around supper time or at bedtime (bedtime is preferred). Diabetics tend to take medications; insulin is usually used before meals and at bedtime. Drugs like Metformin are usually taken with morning and evening meals or, if it is the extended release kind, it would be taken once a day at supper. All these drugs have an effect on the liver and liver tests should be done. However, once a month testing may be too often for some of them. However, no medication should be taken with alcohol. Most all medications go to the liver first, to be broken down, before going to the rest of the body. To take meds with alcohol could cause an interaction to happen between them that could possibly damage the liver cells.
