why does bleach cause a false negative on most at-home drug tests?

i read that bleach can cause a false negative on most at-home marijuana drug tests. why does it do that? is it because it changes the ph level of the urine sample? or is it because it kills the THC in the urine sample?

1. Bleach throws off the PH of the sample.. Too much, and the PH is outside of the norm for the human body..
