Blood Drug Testing

I have had a Colostomy for Anal Cancer. BUT - do Blood Tests show anal cancer markers? I have heard they don't?

In Apr/May/June-2009 I had Chemo & Radiation for Anal Cancer & was told I was a "cure". But, it came back, and Dec/2009 I had a Colostomy & now wear a bag and I do 'Irrigations' every 2nd day. My worry, of course, is that cancer cells will show up elsewhere. B-U-T.... I have heard that Anal cancer doesn't show up in blood tests.

  1. Cancer cells and tumor markers are two different things. Tumor markers would have been run when you were first diagnosed to get a baseline and used to monitor you during your treatment and follow up.
