- I'm afraid you're mistaken about your pituitary gland being above your kidneys, my friend. Well, actually, they are above your kidneys, but not immediately above your kidneys. The pituitary gland is at the base of the brain. The glands immediately above your kidneys are called your adrenal glands. I think you'd be better discussing with your doctor what, exactly, tests s/he has had done.
- Lol Mick, so much more tactful than me, and correct! A blood test would show the hormone secreted by the pituitary gland and if abnormal, then a scan would be given to check for tumor and almost all pit. tumors are benign... Plus, we only have ONE thyroid... Adrenal glands are actually on your kidneys, but that makes more sense.. but same answer applies in relation to hormone levels, then scans..
- Maybe you should start over and have someone proof read this time, as it is hard to understand you when you type things you don’t mean or make no sense. You have ONE thyroid and ONE pituitary. Doctors do not cover all bases (I think that is what you meant.) by testing for some random cancer. Cancer is not diagnosed by a blood test. If the tests indicated you needed your thyroid removed and you did – what is the problem? Do you really mean the pituitary or the adrenals? Like I said start over and have someone proof read it.
