weekly blood test :(?
hi, so i have to get a blood test done once a week because of my anorexia. They test the usual things like glucose, liver function, electrolytes, phosphorus, urea, creatinine, amylase, bicarbonate etc. Well my question is whether its even important for me to have my bloods done every week. It wouldnt take 1 week for your blood chemistry to change would it? Im guessing that right now all my results are in the normal range because my doctor hasnt said anything so why do i have to have my bloods done weekly? Its just that every time i go, it takes the lady THREE tries to get the needle into my vein and she keeps moving it to try and find my vein, its really painful and i dont want to do it if its not necessary. So is it possible for your blood chhemistry to change in 1 week if your vomiting over 3 times a day and restricting? Thanks :)

- Slowly convert it from weekly test into fortnightly, monthly and quarterly-----------so on and so forth.
- I understand, blood tests are not nice, at one point i was having to have one every week too because of my illness, and in the end my vein collapsed and they could no longer get blood out of it so maybe you should tell them that once a week is too often because your veins need time to recover.
- I am sure that your doctor wouldn't send you for blood tests if they weren't necessary. Do you make sure you drink lots of water before you have blood taken? I have bad veins now due to chemotherapy and I try to always drink lots of water up until I have the test and a heat pad on the part of the arm where they are going to take the blood can help too. Most places are pretty good at getting blood without too much pain, maybe you could go somewhere else to get it done if you don't like the people that do it there.
