Workplace blood test - can they detect Marijuana?
There's a voluntary work place health check, which includes a blood test. The health check is required for a lower health insurance cost at work, completely voluntary if you don't want that particular plan. My question is, can they detect marijuana in these types of tests? The pamphlet says the blood test is for a cholestorol(sp?) check and they also measure body height and weight. Am I at risk of being caught with marijuana in my system?

- What part of testing for cholesterol don't you get. Honestly stop smoking dope your making the rest of us look bad
- Blood tests can detect marijuana. A test for cholesterol does not reveal marijuana. Tests to see if you have been smoking dope cost more. If you are asking if your company is paying more for a marijuana test, I do not know. I doubt it, because such subterfuge would not be necessary, but I have no basis for saying that your specific employer is or is not paying for that extra test.
- And then people wonder why they call it "Dope"....... Richard
- sure can
- For daily users of marijuana you have to dry out for approximately a month for it to be completely out of your system. There are cleansing products to get it out of your system, but these are also detectable in a drug test. They are available in any head shop or GNC store. If you work out, you can argue that you use said cleanser to clean your system out (which was their original intent to begin with). A blood test is the same as a urine test in being able to detect marijuana in your system. Whether they have a legal right or not, I don't know. If your company has a legal department, you might want to run it through them. Or you might want to consult a lawyer on it to see what your rights are (many lawyers have a free consultation). As far as your rights go, I would think something like that varies from state to state.
