Does the basic type blood test reveal enough to diagnose "good health"?
I had some blood tests done. The doctor said I was "healthy" yet I have issues. One Dr says I have Fibromyalgia. Another says costochondritis. Another gastritis. They all give me pain pills. Nothing really relieves me, just causes more problems. Although the blood tests said "normal" enough, could there be something wrong not indicated but, say a high WBC count? Should I go for more testing or trust that fibro is the source of my ills?

- Doctors are humans just like us, so there will always be limitations to their knowledge; In other words, they don't know everything. Laboratory tests can be very helpful for finding out what's going on in the body. They provide a way of gathering data that we cannot get using our five senses alone. However, one single laboratory test with "normal" results does not denote that you are fine. If you are in pain, then that is something that you know for a fact, regardless of what any doctor or lab test says. As for finding out what is causing your pain, that is something that you can probably do better than anyone else, because you're the only one who can feel whats going on in your body. You may have to do a lot of the "legwork" in figuring out what is wrong. Keep your mind open to different possibilities, even if they bother you. I'm not saying that you shouldn't seek medical advice from doctors, but, it helps tremendously if the patient can be their own advocate and educate themselves regarding their possible problems. One good thing to do would be to compile a medical history of yourself based on your empirical observations like: When did your symptoms start? Does anything trigger/exacerbate your symptoms? Things like that can be helpful towards solving the puzzle, and it won't cost you anything. There's probably alot more to consider than what I've said.
