- Share your concerns with your doctor and let them know about any symptoms you are experiencing. They can then decide the full range of things that should be checked. Liz
- Walk in and ask them to check your iron levels. Anemia refers to red blood cells and their ability to transport oxygen into your body/carbon dioxide out of your body. Iron is a key mechanism, and there is a very cheap and simple test done to check for anemia by iron levels. This test is done every time you donate blood, by the way, if you want to avoid any fees. They are checking to make sure that removing blood from your system won't compromise your health, and to make sure that your blood will actually do substantial good in a crisis when given to someone else. When you go in, mention your specific concerns to your doctor. Be sure to bring up why you think you might be anemic. It's entirely possible that you're sick, but that your self diagnosis is wrong. There could be a different cause for your problems, and your symptoms will help your doctor figure out what it could be.
