How accurate are pregnancy blood tests?

I am 14 dpo today, and two days ago I had a doctors appointment (for something other than fertility) anyway he ordered a blood pregnancy test to make sure I wasn't pregnant and that way he could prescribe some medicine. SO THE TEST CAME OUT NEGATIVE, but I'm still hopefull because I am 5 days late. So has anyone had a negative pregnancy blood test and still was pregnant?

1. Blood tests are incredibly accurate. You are probably not preganant.
2. Normally, if you do an at-home pregnancy test and it comes out positive, the doctor does a blood test to double-check. It is very accurate, more so than an at-home pregnancy test. You are most likely not pregnant. Keep trying!
3. it is possible that the negative is wrong. some people have low hormones which will take longer to show up on a test. if you think that you may be pregnant waite a few days and take a hpt but dont start any meds just to be safe.

7. Honey, it doesn't look like your prego but maybe all excitement has been the reason for the late cycle. But don't take any of our words for it if you are going to take meds that could harm your pregnancy than call your doctor and ask them.
8. Yep!! I had a blood test done and it came back negative and about 2 weeks later took an otc test and it was pos!!~Went back to the Dr and had an ultrasound and was 8 weeks along!! Now I have a 4 yr old lil girl!!
9. Blood tests are the most reliable way to tell if you are pregnant. They are only classed as negative if they are <1 (less than 1!) Your Hcg doubles every 48hrs from the minute of conception so if you were pregnant there would have been a reading there even if it were a very low one.
10. my friend had a negative blood test and a week later she tested positive! it can happen.
