How often are there false negatives with blood pregnancy tests?
I've already had one negative with a blood pregnancy test but still have pregnancy symptoms. Sore breasts/enlarged breasts, constant tiredness, have had nausea, dizzyness and my lower seems to be swelling. Belly button is disappearing and my stomach feels hard. It hurts too. I have the iud though. I'm off of my blood pressure medication on doctor's advice until I find out. I'm not sure what's going on. My home tests said negative. I've read that sometimes there can be false negatives on pregnancy tests. I'm not constipated and haven't been. I don't want to be pregnant. An ultrasound would be a sure sign since there's no such thing as a false pregnancy ultrasound.

- I wonder if it could be the IUD messing with your hormones? Might want to tell your doctor your symtpoms if you haven't already.
- perhaps the levels are too low to make a positive diagnosis (too early)?
- Have you tried a home pregnancy test? It is still possible you are pregnant even with an IUD.
- If the symptoms you are describing were attributed to pregnancy, your blood test would have shown a positive. Those symptoms, particularly nausea and dizziness occur when you are about six weeks pregnant. You would have had a positive pregnancy test by this time. You are not pregnant. Hardness in the abdomen is related to constipation which can also cause dizziness and nausea. Take a laxative or fiber tablets. On a side note: IUD's are birth control devices so if you have one of those and are trying to get pregnant, you need to have it removed. Dr. J
- Seems like this is the most common concern of IUD user's. Chances of pregnancy on the IUD are 0.1% while sterilization has a 0.5% pregnancy rate. If the blood test is negative your not pregnant. There is a such thing as a psychological pregnancy.Where your head really thinks your pregnant that it tricks your body to get all the side effects and even an inflating of the stomach and in some rare cases even labor! If your stomach is hardning then I would say that would be in your 3-4 month and a blood test def should show that if not the only other option is a u/s
- blood test are like 100%
