Blood Drug Testing

Do they test for cancer in your pregnancy blood tests?

I'm not saying ive got cancer it just that i wondered because i do have some irritating moles, which i think could be duex to me having dry skin/excema.

  1. Doctors wont test for cancer unless there is a need. These tests can be very expensive. If you have a mole that your worried about talk to your doctor. They can be frozen off very easily
  2. No. They would have to biopsy the area to check for it. Usually cancer isn't in blood, it's in tissue.
  3. no, that is not one of the tests, you might be able to ask and see if they can include it but if it is moles then they would have to actually do a biopsy on the mole itself
  4. Why would they? If you are worried then ask your doc about it. Some cancers can be more aggressive in pregnancy because of the hormone levels. .
  5. no, stop worrying!
  6. you typically don't find out you have cancer through a blood test. AT my first prenatal appt. I did have a full pelvic examination including a pap smear. If you have moles you are worried about, check it out with yoru doctor, but they woudln't know through a blood test.
  7. No they dont test for cancer, only in the pap smear they normally get you to take they test for cerviacle cancer. For skin cancer the onyl way to test isnt a blood test they have to take a biopsy of the mole that you think is bad, biopsies hurt though so its better to get them taken off and then biopsied, I have 13 taken off last April, unfortunately the sun is very dangerous in Australia and I never too care of my skin. The scare when they take the mole out is tiny, much like a laperoscopy scar, and is worthwhile
  8. cancer cells are in the blood !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i should know They wont test unless there is a need RIGHT NOW
  9. no they dont test for cancer if your worried about your moles turning cancerous ask your doc to examine them, if he think their cancerous hell send u off for tests where they remove a mole and do various things with it to see if its cancerous. my husband recently had his mole removed not because he thought it was cancerous but because it kept gettin sliced every time he shaved but they tested that and im guessing seen as no one has contacted him in the past 2 years about it then its not cancerous. any way they test bloods wen ur preg for anti bodies like if u had ur rubella. any abnormalities in ur anti bodys, and the usual tests to c if u have n e infections they also carry outr a hiv test to which i had to sign for to consent to that.
  10. Generally no they don't test for cancer in pregnancy, however with the extra blood supply your body is having to deal with this too could cause extra irritation if your still concerned contact your G.P
  11. No, they don't. When they do blood tests, they only test for those things which they think you might have. There are literally thousands of blood tests that a doctor could request. And there is no blood test for 'cancer'. There are hundreds of different types of cancer, all with their own tests. If you are worried about moles, you need to have them looked at my a doctor. A blood test wouldn't say anything about moles anyway. Get them checked out!
  12. They dont usually no. I would see your MW or GP as soon as possible. Itchy skin in pregnancy is quite common but it could also be a symptom of a serious problem with your Liver, even if you otherwise feel well so please mention it as soon as possible. I get terrible dry skin during pregnancy this time it is really bad and i have to slather E45 cream on morning and night.
