pregnancy tests working on female urine or blood?

Why does a simple pregnancy test have to use female urine to detect whether the female is pregnant or not? What does the urine have to contain in order to read a plus sign? I also realize that taking blood tests also has the capability of saying you're pregnant or not. What does the blood have to contain in order to also say that you're pregnant? What are you suppose to notice? Also, please answer this question seriously. also, I don't really want to have kids. I'm just curious.

2. hcg, the hormone you get in your urine when pregnant, makes the pregnancy test turn positive. blood tests check for hcg as well
3. The urine catches the level of the HCG levels in your urine. I believe its the same for the blood test but im not 100% sure.

5. both tests look for beta HCG levels which is a hormone elevated in pregnancy. Blood test is better cos is more sensitive. You need to be at least 6 weeks pregnant i think before the hormone is concentrated enough in urine to pick up.

If the level is increasing then it's a good sign - if it's decreasing it's an indication that something is going wrong. Early signs of pregnancy can be nausea & vomiting, dizziness, lethargy, going to the toilet more frequently, aversion to certain foods/smells and craving for others. But not all women get these. Unfortunately some of us get all of them all at once!

So when the egg is fertilized the Hcg increases in concentration to protect the developing zygote. This concentration of Hcg is present in the urine of pregnant women and not in unpregnant women, so its small presence detected in the urine gives a positive result in pregnancy test. This same goes in the blood where Hcg hormone is present in pregnancy.

11. Because during a pregnancy, the female body will secrete a hormone HCG ( this only is elevated when a woman is pregnant). Based on the concentration of this hormone, it can be detected by a urine test. The hormone is excreted or released into the blood, the blood is cleansed by the kidneys but, the HCG hormone remains in the urine. The concentration ( strength) of the hormone is stronger after a woman has missed, at least, one period. After that, it continually increases as the pregnancy progresses. Seldom, there are times, when a urine test will show a weak positive result. Or,if a person has missed more than one period and the urine test still returns negative then, the blood test will be done. The concentration of an elevated HCG hormone is tested from the blood. This is usually more accurate in those women that have a weak,positive urine test. Both, the urine and blood test, measure the levels of the HCG hormone. I hope that this helps.
