Blood Drug Testing

Pregnancy blood tests after birth control...?

I'm 22. Two months ago, I found out my boyfriend has an inoperable, fatal form of cancer. I've been with this man since jr. high and I couldn't imagine ever having a family with anyone else... So, we both made the decision that I would stop taking birth control and try to get pregnant. We found out last week that we are, via several home pregnancy tests all saying yes. I still have to go to the doctor to make it official. The problem is, we don't want either of our families to find out this was intentional, they wouldn't understand. My question is, when I go to the doctor this first time for my blood tests and the like, will he/she be able to tell I had stopped taking my birth control, by my estrogen levels and such? We don't want to hurt our families b/c we weren't married... Hi everyone! Thanks for putting me at ease:)

  1. Stop worrying, they will just do a blood test to check for pregnancy and leave it at that. I am sure they won't care if you stopped the BC or not. Congrats!!!
  2. Even if the doctor can tell, they are not allowed to discuss you with anyone else. Tell your families whatever you feel is best. Congrats on the pregnancy!
  3. They don't check that. My ob just does the pee test and the dr cannot tell anyone that you stopped anyways it breaks the client/dr confidentiallity agreement. So you will be okay.
