  1. The main hormone secreted by the thyroid is thyroxine, also called T4 becaue it has 4 iodine atoms. In order for T4 to be effective, it's converted to triiodothyronine (T3) by the removal of one iodine atom. This occurs primarily in the liver. Perhaps this person had an overproduction of T4. You didn't specify the thyroid disorder. The liver needs to settle down. I strongly suggest you speak to the doctor about this. The doctor has more information about this person's past and present conditions than you've told us.
  2. I have had elevated enzymes in my liver for 20+ years. After multiple tests and a biopsy here's what I know: taking ANY kind of medication will throw your enzymes off, so will being overweight, having STDs, even chocolate can cause a spike.
  3. You have to be proactive and keep pushing the doctors , see more than one if needed to find out the reason of the elevated liver test. Most of them blow it off ,s ay it was a medicine or weight throwing it off. Youwill not find out for ten years later after too late sometimes the real reason. Keep pushing them. Anytime a reading is not normal , patient , has to keep after doctors to find out why. don't accept studid answers. Gastreonologist , works with livers and are specialist. may take a while to see one, but worth waiting. good luck.
