Blood Drug Testing

What food should I avoid before I have blood glucose tests?

I am having some labs done today (cholesterol, liver tests and diabetes tests) and they said I COULD eat and drink more than water but what foods can I have that wont raise my blood sugar level

  1. Fresh Veggies not caned!
  2. Anything with sugar.... Including fruits, sweets, gum, and anything else that might have even a hint of sugar.
  3. i am diabetic and i have my sugar tested regularly and i am not allowed to eat or drink anything for 12 hours before the test if you do it gives a false reading that is not accurate
  4. watch how much bread you eat bread, rice, grain etc. are nothing but carbs that can turn into sugar second watch how much caffine and juice you drink that can also raise your glucose levels, try things like salads, baked chicken insted of fried, fruit like grapes and pinapple, peanut butter crackers, fish and other stuff
  5. wat test is it?? is it a FBS (fasting blood sugar)?? u should be avoid intake of food post midnight or after midnight 8hrs prior to the test to prevemt alteration of result cause an intake of food alters the outcome.. if a simple CBG (capillary blood glucose) is the test u would like, u should perform the test pre-meals or 30mins before meals to have a better results..to avoid hi-glucose foods, just remmeber that glucose are fould on substance that contains sugar in that way..so avoid excessive intake of food that are rich in sugar or carbohydrates like rice, bread, pastas etc.. btw im a graduate of a nursing course and about to take the exam this december..im just concern w/ ur health.. = )
  6. if they told you that you can eat prior to the tests, then they are doing an A1C for diabetes, that measures sugar metabolism for the past three months, so what you eat today will not have any effect on the test at all.
  7. I think you misunderstood the instructions you were given about you could eat or drink before the tests. A ten hour fast is required before the test, if you are not diabetic you may eat anything you wish prior to that time period.
  8. Um, a better question would be why avoid certain foods? If it's a fasting test, you wouldn't be allowed to eat. If it's non-fasting, you should eat as you normally do. The point isn't to eat what you can to keep the results good, it's to eat as you normally do to see if there's a problem or not. Good luck! (:
  9. Eat a normal meal.
  10. If you are having fasting blood sugar tests you could drink tea or coffee with nothing in it, sugar free sodas or water. None of those will raise your sugar because there are zero calories/carbohydrates in them.
  11. you should fast for 8-12 hrs before the tests. you can have water but that is it. no coffee no tea, no breakfast until after the tests are done.
