Blood Drug Testing

high liver blood test?

I am a 36 year old woman-- I had gastic by pass surgery the end of Feburary (have lost 93lbs so far). I just had a liver panel done and my count came up as 90, which they said is higher than normal. Does anyone know what this means? Should I be worried? What should I do to bring it to the normal range. What causes this. Thanks for your help!

  1. Because you have had sudden weight loss (93 lbs) & calorie restrictions, your liver has been forced to metabolize more fat. This can cause a temporary rise in your liver enzymes. You should remain under your doctor's supervision in case of any complications. Congratulations on your huge success!!! ******I also should mention that taking alot of Ibuprophen can raise liver enzyme numbers too. I once had that happen to me after I had been taking alot of Advil for a muscle pull. Here's more info on meds that can cause liver enzyme elevations: What medications cause abnormal liver enzyme levels? A host of medications can cause abnormal liver enzymes levels. Examples include: -- Pain relief medications such as aspirin, acetaminophen (Tylenol), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), neproxen (Narosyn), diclofenac (Voltaren), and phenybutazone (Butazolidine) -- Anti-seizure medications such as phenytoin (Dilantin), valproic acid, carbamazepine (Tegretol), and phenobarbital -- Antibiotics such as the tetracyclines, sulfonamides, isoniazid (INH), sulfamethoxazole, trimethoprim, nitrofurantoin -- Cholesterol lowering drugs such as the "statins" (Mevacor, Pravachol, Lipitor, etc.) and niacin -- Cardiovascular drugs such as amiodarone (Cordarone), hydralazine, quinidine, etc. -- Anti-depressant drugs of the tricyclic type
