why am I spitting up blood with phlem?
For about 9 months now I have been coughing up green phlem, and for the past 2 months I have had shortness of breath, some chest pain, a feeling that phlem is constantly cought in my throat, and some sharp pains in my throat. My doctor has done so many tests, including lung xray, chest ct scan, heart tests, blood tests, tb test, everything is coming back fine. Whats going on with me?

- holy crap, that sucks
- It could be an infection that will clear up by itself .
- Try sinus infection. Why has your doctor not looked??????
- honey...you need to see another dr. insist on a second opinion.
- see another doc
- You might want to see another dr. to get a second opinion.
- Allergic disorders may cause this. You may be exposed to occupational pneumoconiosis. It's surprising that all investigs showed normal while u have been suffering for pretty long time. May be u need a fresh course of investigns. Simple CBC to find Eosinophilia should be the first. Good luck!
- Hun, that sounds quite serious if it has been happening for such a long period of time now. Try consulting a different more experienced doctor because obviously your current doctor does not know what is going on inside your body, It could just be a simple throat infection that needs medication to stop it from bleeding and building up phlem so often.. but then again it could be something much more serious which you need to get checked out soon. I hope your fine soon enough =D good luck x *hugs*
- See another doctor.
- A sinus infection is a good suggestion. Has your doctor done a CBC to check your WBC levels? How about a pulmonary function test? The blood could be from excessive coughing. Green phlegm is usually a sign of an old infection. Yellow is a sign of a fresh infection. Do you smoke? Is there Cancer in your family?
- I don't think a small amount of blood with phlegm is anything to worry about. I've had allergies and sinus infections in the past that were cleared up with antibiotics. Occasionally I spit up some blood for a day or two. But I agree with the others, you should see another specialist.
- Don't mean to pry, but do you smoke, sometimes menthol can cause this.
- I had the same problem a few years back they finally found out that I had inhaled a bug (kinda like a chigger) and it made a home in my lung while i was riding the sand dunes ask your doctor to check after they found mine they gave me a breathing treatment and some pills i felt better in 3 days.
- Dear, go to another doctor. Good luck!!
