Blood Drug Testing

My Doctor is writing to me about blood test results?

i had a blood test on monday and rang them today to see if my results were back. They said that my doctor is writing to me about my results ?? what can this mean. Is it that they have found something in my bloods / a refferal to hospital ? i rang them back and asked if this was procedure they just said that they could not tell me and that if i was concerned to speak to my doctor tomorrow.

1. no it prob means that everything is normal and he/she doesnt have time to call all of the people who get results on a daily basis
2. I`d say it`s the opposite, they are probably just sending you written info for protocol`s sake. in my experience if it`s anything bad they want to speak to you in person.

4. no it should be fine dont worry they're not allowed to give test results over the phone due to the data protection act. Basically its so that noone can ring up pretending to be you to get your results. Hope this helps:-)
5. They cannot give you any information over the phone, so the doctor writes to you. I would worry if the doctor called and said he needed to see you. If he is writing to you, obviously there isn't anything wrong.
6. If there were a problem, they would be scheduling you with an appointment for the doctor to discuss with you. I would say that if anything is wrong it is quite minor, but more than likely everything is fine.
7. if you really want to know so that you can calm down a bit, just call them back and ask. They are health professionals, so they are used to such questions. Ask them if it is standard procedure. Ask them if they give information over the phone and why/why not. Ask them how soon you can come in for a consultation or if those results will be mailed. Chances are, if the results are not good, they will not be mailed. Anyhow, it's too much of an imposition to speculate. Just call them and tell them that you are very concerned and try to get more information.

9. If they found something wrong, they will ask you to come in IMMEDIATELY or give you a specific instructions. What they said usually mean, the doctor has not fully evaluated the test results yet, or they are not willing to talk about it over the phone. Some doctors are willing to discuss matters over the phone with patients. Some aren't. There is NO cause for concern.
10. I have gotten my blood test results over the phone by my Dr. so I'm not sure why he won't give them to you. It's probably just how he handles things in his office. Every Dr. is different. I definitly wouldn't worry, if it were something serious you would have been spoken to already!
11. You won't know until you get the letter. The doctor maybe afraid of confidentiality issues and/or legal issues! After you get the letter and READ it, Call the doctor's office for a face to face discussion of the diagnosis and possible treatments if needed. I do wish you the best of luck!
12. there are rules present today called hippa which are basically privacy rules meant to protect patients' information so that it does not fall into the wrong hands that could possilby used to hurt you. giving info re. health matters over the phone is taboo. the doctor may call you personally and ask you questions to validate your identity. mailing results is not unusual. joe
13. Dont worry flower, this is routine procedure. If there are problems that needed urgent action; he would call you.
