How do you deal with waiting for blood test results?
I had an annual check-up for everything (including std's) and I won't have the results for 2 wks. I am terribly nervous. The doctor said there really wasn't any cause to worry. My white cell count was slightly increase (in the prelimary results) but she felt this was due either to my NuvaRing or my endometriosis, since there was no other evidence of an std (ie chlamydia, ect) and she felt antibotics were unnecessary. Regardless of this reassurance, I still am suffering alot of anxiety in waiting for the results. Any suggestions for dealing with this?

- That must be a hard thing to go through, but when I am worried about something I clean or do something else to keep busy and take my mind off things.
- Relax, it happens sometimes and if there was something realy wrong the GP would ring.
- Drink as much alcohol as possible. Your resultant hangover may prevent you from worrying about your results.
- Feeling anxious about blood test results...particularly std's...is so difficult. But, just know that it is normal to feel nervous. Honey, whenever, something is out of your control (i.e. it's in the hands of the lab work people now), always know that "worry" is a wasted emotion, because it will not bring the results any faster. Always keep an "internal locus of control." This means that anything "outside" of your control is not worth stressing yourself out! An "external locus of control" will perpetuate your anxiety. Your doc is right, since you don't know for sure about std, your best bet is "positive thinking". Excellent articles (and free course) on anxiety will help you through this very difficult time. You've got the power to control your own anxiety, and soon enough you'll get the results, my friend. See below for link. I hope this helps!
- I have been in your position, and you just have to remember that if you've got it, you've got it, if you don't, you don't. Remember, chlamydia can be easily cured with antebiotics, as can many other common STD's like gonorrhea. Chances are, you probably don't have one, but even if you do, chances are it is a curable one. Just realize the odds are in your favor either way. If you're like me, you'll get the results back and wonder why you worried so much.
- Relax cousin, nothin' is gonna happen
- relax- good results nothing to worry about bad results- it's done and you have to deal with it please practice safe sex and you won't have to worry about std"s
- I know there is nothing I can do about it, so I carry on as usual. There is no point in being anxious over what we can not control. Besides, I want to know if something is wrong so it can be treated.
