Blood Drug Testing

How accurate are blood tests to test for pregnancy?

Let me explain my story. My last period ended on November 23rd. I had cervical mucus for 4 days pretty heavy and then I got the brown blood in it. I took 3 preggo tests al lnegative. I waited to take any pregnancy tests until jan 2nd. So i scheduled a blood test just to be sure cuz i had cramping feelings and now yesterday i had normal period bleeding ( the first day ) and today i barely have blood coming out. My blood test was negative. I just can't help thinking something is wrong with me. I am weaning my daughter breastfeeding, after 11 1/2 months straight no supplements. could this be why my period is so weird and how accurate are blood tests for pregnancy? Thanks everyone.

  1. A blood test is more accurate than a urine test. Unless there was a mix up at the lab, I would say your negative blood test is correct.
  2. A blood test is very accurate, more accurate than urine. You waited more than a month after your last period which would have been enough time to show the "pregnancy hormone' if it was in your system by either blood or urine. I would say the test is very accurate in this case. Remember your period and things like that are triggered by hormones, and as you breastfeed you produce certian hormones that can affect your period. Weaning your daughter will cause changes in your homones and therefore changes in your period.
  3. blood tests are very accurate- more accurate than urine tests. Maybe your hormones are just kind of messed up- maybe the doctor could check that?
