How accurate are the blood tests for pregnancy?

Ok, so I have taken 2 hpt's, both negative. I've just gotten the results of the blood test and it's also negative. But, I'm 5 days late. Also, I've had a very stressful few weeks. (Found out hubby was cheating on me, moved out, had to get my daughter new unforms for school, other money stresses, etc. etc.) Could it be possible that I'm just late from stress?

1. the blood test are very accurate especially after a missed period. It is very possible that you are just late from stress.

3. Blood tests are extremely accurate. Your not pregnant. Stress can cause you to miss periods, yes.
4. Its possible. with my first pregnancy that i ended up losing due to misscarriage, they thought i was further that what i was by the blood test so i had an ultrasound done at 8 weeks....you never know....i'm sorry to hear about your husband but i wish you the best of luck
5. Blood tests are much more accurate than home pregnancy tests and detect the smallest amounts of hcg. If a blood test says you are not pregnant, I would trust it.
6. yes, your probaly too stressed out, take a day and chill out. go to the spa, lock your door and hide in the bathroom! lol, however it might still be too soon to know if you are or not. wait a week or 2 then test again
7. Yes, being very stressed out can actually make your period stop. But if in 5-7 days, you still haven't gotten your period, then I would do another test.
8. Blood tests are very accurate. Stress can definetly be the reason for being late, you may even just skip this period all together. Hope everything goes well for you.

12. 5 days late is nothing. You've got enough on your mind so your body is sparing you your period. It'll come. Worry about the REAL issues that ARE happening and consider the late period a blessing in disguise.
13. Home pregnancy test are 97% accurate, blood tests are 99% accurate. Stress and worrying about being pregnant can cause a delay in you starting.
